Tokoin-Wuiti Kitchen
A kitchen reimagined around a bespoke island with an integrated table, creating additional storage, expanded work surface, and a more convivial everyday experience.
Project snapshot
Client need & context
The clients wanted to significantly increase the storage capacity of their kitchen without sacrificing the conviviality of a true dining space. The challenge was to integrate a solution capable of accommodating everyday uses — food preparation, storage, and breakfast for four — within a composition that felt elegant, functional, and seamlessly resolved.
Constraints that shaped the project
- •Compact kitchen footprint
- •Need for substantial additional storage
- •Requirement to incorporate a breakfast area for 4 people
- •Daily circulation to remain unobstructed
Editorial note — Key decision
- ▸Design of a multifunctional central island
- ▸Integration of storage throughout the island base
- ▸Extension of the island with an adjoining table for four
- ▸Careful work on proportions to preserve the visual balance of the space
What was included
Furniture & fittings
A complete modular kitchen with a central island and integrated dining extension, conceived to bring together storage, preparation, and conviviality in one coherent composition. The design combined Mouse Grey wall units, Natural Burgundy Walnut base units, and a black Nero Galaxy granite worktop, creating a language that feels warm, elegant, and enduring.
Project manager coordination
A carefully selected project manager oversaw the operational coordination of the works, including site measurements, validation of layouts, delivery scheduling, supervision of the installation teams, and management of on-site adjustments. A continuous level of oversight ensured a smooth execution and a result fully aligned with the original design intent.

What this project revealed
When conceived as a fully fledged architectural element, the island becomes far more than a kitchen feature. It structures the space, intensifies its uses, and creates a true living area. Here, a single intervention successfully combined generosity, order, and conviviality.
